My 5 Cent Review on MyASNB Portal

by - August 11, 2017

Permodalan Nasional Berhad or PNB has recently launched the new MyASNB portal. This is in line with the rapid growth of digital banking development in the country. Their interactive website finally able to cut down customer's waiting time for over the counter transactions at all agent banks. I used to spend 1-2 hours just to get my passbook updated. It can get even more annoyed after the announcement of bonuses especially in the month of January each year.

In order to log in, you need to register your current and active mobile number at any agent banks. You need to fill in a form for updating of personal information and the bank will send it over to PNB office. It may take up to 10 working days for the information to be updated in their system. I’m not sure if it got delayed due to transmission time between the two offices but I’ve waited like hell (duh!). Once updated, you can easily request for mobile TAC on the registration page. If registration is successful, you will receive a temporary password to log in. Change to your permanent password as soon as you can although the temporary password is valid for 30 days.

By the way, I do have my kids’ ASNB accounts registered under my number, however, I cannot see their accounts via online. After an inquiry to ASNB Care team, I’ve found out that any additional investment, withdrawal, an update of information or balance checking for kids below 18 years old still needs to be done over the counter at agent banks. Isn’t it tedious? I’ve opened accounts and managing the cash flow since their childbirth but it seemed like I’m not authorised to do it online. This is the pitfall that they should improve. Isn’t it common sense that whenever parents do the online transaction for their own accounts, they would also want to be able to invest for the child?

When it comes to doing the online transaction, MyASNB uses FPX Payment Online Gateway. This is like buyer and seller transaction concept whereby you authorise the website to transfer you to your personal online banking. There are multiple of bank options you can select from. In another way round, you can “Add To Favourite” the newly ASNB account number in your online banking. I noticed that the account number has changed from 9 characters to 12 characters. So, it is important to delete the previous number and add the new ones. We don’t want to simply credit the wrong account number right?

Once everything has settled down, you can also see your account balance is displayed in a super big font at the account summary page (ha-ha!). Don’t try to do this in the cyber café or office because people at the back can see how deep your pocket is.

And just in case you are wondering which one is ASNB agent...well, I'm giving you the shortlisted ones - Maybank, CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, POS Malaysia Berhad, BSN, Affin Bank, AmBank, Alliance Bank (Klang Valley only).

Don’t be worry too much… this is just based on my experience and 5-cent opinion. Your story could be different J
