Why it’s called as “Bus Stand”

by - January 25, 2011

Along the way from work to home, I sat quietly in the car looking over the car window. Traffic is heavy and the car moved slightly forward in every 15 minutes. I watched my significant other sighed for the tenth time. Traffic has never been worse than that day. I suddenly glimpsed a bus stand by the roadside.

The view of it sent me a weird question, “could the bus stand built just for two persons?”.

I wondered...

Yes, maybe it could. That’s why it’s called as bus stand.

That is the place where people should stand while waiting for the bus to arrive.

Isn’t it a waste? Cute design but not practical for the public to use. It just weird. Let us think it over:

1) The place to sit is so tiny. It looked like the sit is reserved for S/XS sized people only!
2) There are only 2 sits available. Is it built purposely to cater 2 persons at a time only?
3) The bus stand located at a very congested road in KL. If a bus stopped at peak times, it  surely contributes to more congestion.
4) The design is unique and thus maybe costly expensive. Isn’t a bus stand supposed to offer space and not design?
5) There is not a single signage put up. The public might think it’s abandoned and not bother to using it.

Timid designer...lolz!
