Marriage Course at LPPKN (“Kursus Pra-Perkahwinan Islam di LPPKN”)
I went to a marriage course held by Lembaga Pembangunan & Penduduk Keluarga Negara (LPPKN) at Pusat Kursus Perkahwinan Islam which is located at 13th floor, LPPKN building, Jalan Raja Laut, 50350 Kuala Lumpur.
The course date was on December 26th and 27th. The place was okay, plus the parking is free. The hall can accommodate up to 100++ people. One thing I hate about the hall is not much air to breathe! (I felt suffocated…they need to put more air-conditions and improve the air circulation).

02.30 – 02.45 p.m. : Registration / Briefing (Facilitator)
02.45 – 04.30 p.m. : Stress Management and Health (Dr. Hj. Amaludin Ab. Rahman)
04.30 – 05.00 p.m. : Tea and Asar prayer
05.00 – 06.30 p.m. : Marriage Procedure and Marriage in Islam (Ustaz Hj. Ruslan bin Said, KDN/JAWI)

08.30 – 10.30 a.m. : Moral and Ibadah (Ustaz Hj. Leas @ Alias bin Mutalib, JAWI)
10.30 – 11.00 a.m. : Recess and Tea
11.00 – 01.00 p.m. : Communication between husband and wife / Conflict management (Ustaz Hj. Abdul Kadir bin Derani, JHEK)
01.00 – 02.00 p.m. : Recess / Lunch and Zuhur prayer
02.00 – 04.00 p.m. : Family relations and Akidah (Ustaz Hj. Daim bin Jajuli, JAKIM)
04.00 – 04.30 p.m. : Tea and Asar prayer
04.30 – 06.30 p.m. : Family resources and Financial Management (Ustaz Hj. Mohd Ansarullah bin Mohd Hashim, KDN)
And the above goes with below Rules and Regulations:
(1) Decent dressing and attire
(2) Compulsory attendance for all sessions and participants must sign on the attendance form after every completed session.
(3) Participant who considered as late or missed any session have to repeat it the following week (2 weeks after the original date)
(4) Not allowed to make any interruption along the course sessions (e.g. chatting, eating, drinking & ringing sound from cell phone)
(5) Not allowed to smoke in the building
(6) Prohibited to enter any part of the building other than the allowed sections/ halls only.
(7) Always show decent attitudes at the time of course conducted.
(8) Taking care of facilities and tidiness of the hall, surau and washroom at all time.
(9) Must bring along Visitor/ Participant pass at all time for checking and safety purposes.
(10) Participants will be refrained from taking the course certificate if any rules as the above found contravened.
Once you have completed the course, the course certificate (“Sijil Kursus Kahwin”) will be out in about 3 working days. The allowed time to take the cert will be:
Monday - Friday (Office hours) at Guard Post, Ground Floor LPPKN Tower
Saturday - Sunday (9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.) at 13th Floor LPPKN Tower
The facilitator reminds us to take the cert in 30 days before it is returned to JAWI & JAKIM. However, he said that he still holds thousands of cert in his rooms and wondering why many ex-participants ignoring the importance of cert. The cert is valid for lifetime, although you might cancel your marriage at last minute; you still need the cert in order to get married with other person.
The course is really eye-opening for those who wants to start a new life with own partner. I can tell from the course is that it’s the basic mixture of Islam lessons, science, biology, financial management, social & psychology. All food and beverages is included in the course fee, MYR 80/ person and well-prepared by the organizer (f.o.c.). Please remember that the important document you need to bring at the registration is copy of identity card (IC).
Value-added info/ news for those who intend to attend marriage course in next year. I was told by one of the facilitators that the structure of course will not be the same for next year, 2010. It will be held in 3 days. For those who are currently working, looks like you need to take 1 day off. Some more, the fee might increase. There will be Qiamullail session at night and test. So, better be prepared for test, you guys! I’m kind of relieved that I have passed all of these.
